"Hi ! I am in the process of organizing in preparation for becoming a single mother. My primary concern is that I am an only child without a strong support network (my parents believe that I am committing an enormous sin and am blaspheming against God etc...). If I have a child with DI, what happens to the baby if something happens to me?? I am buying a strong life-insurance policy for the financial aspect, but what about the rest?? I am desperate to be a mom since the traditional 'plan' isn't working out, but I am really worried about this. (Also, how do I handle the announcement at work? Will they think badly of me?). Michelle"

"Dear Michelle, thank you for contacting us at SingleMom.com™. There isn't an easy way to tell you exactly what will happen to your future or how you should handle with the rest of the world.
First, you had already decided to to be a single mother. The decision had been made and what is more important than that.
Secondly, you worry about your parents. If you really worry that having this child will damage your relationship with your parents, you would have think twice about it. However, you are old enough to make your own decision in life. Even though, it is not an easy decision. I'm sure that in time, you just need to prove to your parents that you still love & respect them. And that you wish they would do the same.
Third, you worry about how to break the news at work. Well, any choice that you make in life will effect some people that love and care for you such as your family members, friends, and else. You just need to be calm and expect the unexpected. Some will welcome you and your news and some will not show you any respect. Again, it's part of life. You don't live to please everyone or try to make everyone happy, right?
Financially & emotionally will be harder for you when this child is born. Imagine raising a child by yourself, it will be a lot of works, but it will be rewarding too. Please be prepare, it will not be easy and in order for you to get ready for this. Please do more research about single mom. You can read many articles on our Web site as well as many others.
