Employment Resources from Job Openings and Labor Turnover: DEC 2005 - By Amanda Bach - Finally there's some good news with the job openings and labor turnover as of the last day of December 2005. The job openings, hires, and total separations rates were all essentially unchanged in December, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. This release includes estimates of the number and rate of job openings, hires, and separations for the total nonfarm sector by industry and geographic region.
METROPOLITAN AREA EMPLOYMENT AND UNEMPLOYMENT - By Amanda Bach - DECEMBER 2005 Unemployment rates were lower in December than a year earlier in 273 of the 367 metropolitan areas, higher in 80 areas, and unchanged in 14 areas, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. Thirty-three metropolitan areas registered jobless rates below 3.0%; 24 of these were in the South. Four areas recorded rates of 10.0% or more. The national unemployment rate was 4.6%, not seasonally adjusted, down from 5.1% a year earlier.
