Picture this... A woman flawlessly dressed, ready for
work. Her children are prepared for school, eagerly awaiting their
mother in a perfectly clean house. How realistic is this? Is
this the way it is in your home when you are getting ready for work and
need to get the kids off to daycare or school? Probably not, and
you are not alone. The media however, portrays this image of the
perfect mom which is a standard very hard to live up to, especially if
you are a single mom. The media is trying to do its job and sell you
something you may or may not need. This unrealistic standard can
sometimes make us moms feel guilty, yes I used the "G" word.
We feel guilty enough that we don't need help from anyone.
Does this sound more realistic? You are running
late because your dog got out of the back yard and you have to get him
before the cranky neighbor complains. Your son can't find his
homework that needs to be turned in that day. Your younger
children are running around the house fighting over a toy. You
can't find your other black shoe. The telephone is ringing in the
meantime... It's your ex-husband! Isn't this closer to
reality?
However your day starts, take a deep breath and know
you are not alone. Walk out the door with a smile on your face and
a positive attitude, because you WILL make it through the day.
Just think, you get to do it all over again tomorrow!
