Welcome to kid of the month.

Diego Valentino is my "official" love child.

This month we featured "Diego Valentino". He is 1 and half years old.

        Born on his due date! of Valentines 2005, he is Love personified because he has shown me a type of love I didn't know existed.  He's given new meaning to the term "labor of love" because he is not such an easy toddler. As a matter of fact, he has been nicknamed hurricane and is quite a handful 90% of the time.  

        I usually get woken up with a hard toy hitting me on the head, and the rest of the day is followed with pinching my arms, scratching my face, pulling my hair and on occasion biting me- all unexpectedly.  Its been a real challenge for me dealing with the pains of his enthusiasm and since his father decided to bail ship, when I was 2 months pregnant we have had so many financial problems, worries about the future, and on top of it he still doesn't sleep through the night and I am so out of sorts with lack of sleep.  Sometimes when he hits my toe or knee cap with a toy I get overwhelmed and burst into tears in front of him.  This is when I know he is truly my love child. He stands there and looks at me with his deep brown eyes with compassion and love and comes over to me and rests his head on my lap or pats me on the leg. Then in his own language he rambles the sweetest soliloquy saying he is sorry and reassuring me that everything will be just fine and then my tears of despair are miraculously turned into tears of joy and love.  

         I didn't know small children were capable of this and it restores my sanity and I pick him up and he pats me on the back and together we take a few more steps into the unknown.
