Do You Want to Know How's Your Nanny Doing Her Job? Now You can - Website Review - www.HowsMyNanny.com - Sources by Amanda Bach - As we review some of the useful website each month, I want to introduce to you this new website HowsMyNanny.com - this website service started in the Fall of 2006 by Jill Starishevsk, a nine-year veteran of a District Attorney’s Office in New York City who works in the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Bureau. While she was on maternity leave of her second child, she started this wonderful website. It is a service that provides license plates for strollers with a unique identifying number on them so if your nanny is out and about and does something bad to the baby or something praiseworthy, a passerby can get a message to the parent via the internet. HowsMyNanny.com website has received a great deal of press including Good Morning America, CNN, The BBC and Fox News National. Please spread the words about this as the more people who know about the site, the more likely a mom or dad is to receive a report if there is a problem. We are working hard to keep children safe and think that this is a step in the right direction.

My Story as a Single Mom - www.SeeingUThrough.com - Author Gail Showalter is looking for stories from single mothers to use as examples in a book that will reveal how personalities affect the different ways we handle difficulties. This submission should tell of a situation that you found yourself in as a single mother. It should tell what you did and relate that to your own personality and temperament. In other words, why you did what you did when another person of a different temperament probably would have done it entirely differently given the same circumstances. To find out more about the submission, CLICK HERE.

New Book Reviews:

Holding Her Head High - by Janine Turner
Actress Janine Turner Inspires Single Mothers
N
ew Book Uncovers Moving Stories of Single Mothers Throughout History

Nashville, TN – History yields to all types of mothers. Helena Augusta, abandoned single mother of Constantine, helped forever change Christianity. Widowed single mother Belva Lockwood would become the first female presidential candidate in 1884. And Harriet Jacobs, a slave, chose to live in a small airless attic for 7 years so her children could have freedom while diligently fighting for her own freedom and her children's safety.

History is peppered with stories like these women, single mothers that have persevered for the sake of their children and to better their lives. Twelve women are chronicled in a new book by Northern Exposure actress and three-time Golden Globe nominee Janine Turner titled Holding Her Head High: 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Children and Changed History.

Turner, also a single mother, examines the lives of these women and explores how they advocated for their children to make a difference. During her research, Turner scoured thousands of historical documents to unearth proof of the impact these single mothers had.

“These women didn’t just raise their children,” Turner emphatically declares. “They raised their nations.” She goes on to add, “I find their voices to be amazingly modern, no matter the era”. And cross many eras they do. Stories span from the Roman Empire, travel through medieval times, and even recount the stories of pioneers in 18th century America. Turner details the behind-the-scenes lives of some of most influential Americans in history.

Holding Her Head High skillfully documents how these twelve women demonstrated strength, dedication, and commitment, with a robust vision of moving ahead. These stories will be inspirational to all generations who enjoy uplifting messages from a historical perspective.

Getting Back on the Career Track - by Carol Fishman Cohen and Vivian Steir Rabin - Authors of Back on the Career Track: A Guide for Stay at Home Moms Who Want to Return to Work - Would you like to return to the work world but are concerned about how to find an opportunity that will allow you to fulfill your family or other non-work obligations, nervous about how to “market yourself” to potential employers, or unsure about what type of work you want to do? They took time out to be home with their children, and then re-launched their careers years later. Based upon our experience, and that of the 100+ women they interviewed for this book, as well as the career counselors, recruiters and employers whose advice they sought, they’ve developed a detailed process to help you negotiate this major transition. Returning to the workforce can be a daunting job for full-time moms. Carol Fishman Cohen and Vivian Steir Rabin understand, because they've been there. And as women who have successfully re-launched their careers, they know it can be done with careful planning, strategizing, and creativity. Now, in Back on the Career Track, they offer a prescriptive, seven-step program that covers such topics as building confidence, assessing career options, updating job skills, preparing for interviews, getting the family on board, networking, and much more.

You Can Be Smarter Than a 5th Grader! - By Nonna Joann Bruso - Author of Baby Bites: Transforming a Picky Eater into a Healthy Eater - Denver, Colo.— Forty-nine percent of moms say they have a picky eater. Not willing to “cope” with a picky eater or “hope” a picky eater will someday change, Nonna Joann tackles this ever increasing dilemma. Baby Bites is her breakthrough method incorporating multi-sensory learning. Motivated by her two-and-half-year-old grandson, Joshy, who had been winning every food battle, Nonna Joann found a way to circumvent his extreme resistance to eating healthy foods. She condenses forty years of parenting and grand-parenting, as well as her thirty-year passion and independent study of nutrition, into yummy bite-size pieces. Parents are often out-maneuvered by their preschoolers, and end up giving them the foods they willing eat: junk foods. To their detriment, these foods are directly related to the epidemic of childhood disease and obesity we’re experiencing today. Baby Bites offers practical advice, while providing parents the tools needed to transform their picky eater into a healthy eater. Your child’s health is in your hands. You’re the one who controls the food purchased and stored in your pantry. You’re the one who plans the menu. You’re the one who decides when snacking is permitted.

Teens Report Parental Inattention to Their Important "Rites of Passage" has high price tag -
