ARC/STSA Scolarship

ARC/STSA ScholarshipAnnually since 2005, the ARC/STSA (Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) Board of Directors awards multiple scholarships of up to $1000 in at least two separate categories. In 2011, the ARC/STSA awarded $3000 in scholarships to 4 students and 1 educator.

For the 40th anniversary, the 2012 Scholarship fund is increased to $4000 combined total for all student awards and $1000 total for educator awards.

ARC/STSA Student Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Completed, signed and dated application received by the due date specified below.
  • Proof of attendance at a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology or surgical assisting program.
  • Proof of student membership in AST or ASA.
  • Official institutional transcript verifying a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater (on a 4.0 scale), or an equivalent scale acceptable to the ARC/STSA.
  • Submission of an original essay (minimum 1,200 to maximum 1,500 words) describing how this award will assist you in reaching your educational objectives and the ultimate goal of being an entry-level surgical technology or surgical assisting practitioner.
  • Letter of recommendation from your program director evaluating your potential for a career in the profession of surgical technology or surgical assisting.

ARC/STSA  Educator’s Scholarship – Degree Achievement

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Completed, signed and dated application received by the due date specified below.
  • Must be a current CST employed as a ST program director or ST clinical coordinator or a current CSFA™ or CSA employed as a SA program director in a CAAHEP accredited program as verified by a letter from the CEO of the institution (on institutional letterhead).
  • Must provide proof of enrollment in a planned course of study at the associate, baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degree level with the specific intent to further one’s career in the field of surgical technology or surgical assisting education.
  • Submission of an original essay (minimum 1,200 to maximum 1,500 words) describing how the award will assist you in reaching your degree achievement objective and your ultimate goal of educational leadership in the field of surgical technology or surgical assisting.
  • Three (3) letters of reference attesting to the candidate’s character, academic ability, and professional commitment.
