Im 18 years old with 6 month old baby girl, im a single mom. i need a place to live, i got kick out of my parents house. I need help!

Answer from Veronica:

Hi Mitzi,

I am sorry to hear about your recent situation. Without knowing to much about what is going on or where you are staying now, it is hard for me to help you. Working with what I have, my first form of advice would be to look into what government assistance programs are in your area. Section 8 and cash assistance might be your first step to getting on your feet. If you are not working, look into a program called Work Force (that’s what it is called in Florida, not sure about your State). They help you look for work while providing assistance for daycare and gas/transportation cost.

Sometimes it takes time to get approval for these programs, which means you will still need some help from loved ones until you get the ball rolling. If your parents are out of the question, try talking to friends and other family members. If someone extends help your way, remember to be grateful and appreciative. While you are staying in someone else’s home, abide by their rules and help as much as you can. Out staying your welcome is always a concern, so make sure you stay helpful as long as possible.

I wish you and your baby girl the best of luck and if you need more detailed information, I would need more information from you, like what State you reside in so I can point you in the right direction for help. Also, right here on this site are a lot of programs for helping single moms. Take a look around and see if anything can be useful to you and your daughter.
