Applying to college should be a family decision. It is definitely important for your son or daughter to choose the school that is the best fit for them socially and academically. However it is just as important that they choose a school that is a good financial fit for themselves and the family. When applying to schools it’s important to look for colleges that offer the best value.
One of my favorite websites for comparing which colleges offer the best value is, Kiplinger. They yearly rank the 100 Best Value Private Schools, 100 Best Value Public Schools and 10 Best Value Public Schools (Out-of-State). You can quickly compare the total cost per year, average student debt at graduation, 4-year graduation rate and admission rate. Other information is also available for each school, such as average SAT/ACT scores, the ratio of students per faculty, the cost of room & board, estimated book expense, etc. Check it out!
