Germ Free BathroomsThe bathroom is one place in the house where you really need to guard against germs. Right from taking a bath to brushing our teeth to even answering all of Mother Nature’s calls, we do it all in the bathroom. It is no surprise then that this is the one place where germs will begin to multiply the soonest. So the bathroom is also the one room in the house that demands constant attention as far as cleanliness and hygiene goes.

A few tips on how to ensure that you bathroom stays germ free:

  • Toilet seat – The place where germs are most likely to begin their attack is the toilet seat. This is the reason why every time we use the toilet, we must flush. It will also help to place an antiseptic in the flush tank so that every time you flush, the toilet is sterilized also. Make sure that you always put the lid down and then flush so as to prevent the germs from being thrown up in the air by the water force. Every second or third day, close the toilet water valve and pour in about two cups of vinegar into the toilet making sure you hit the side walls properly. Leave this for about half an hour and wash away with warm water. Once a month you must clean the toilet seat with peroxide and some washing powder.
  • Floors – Wet bathroom floors are a haven for germs so the first thing is to ensure that the bathroom floors stay dry. Always switch on the exhaust fan after taking a bath. Keep a mop handy that you can use to dry up the floor after a bath. Once a week mop the floors with vinegar and boric powder so as to kill any mold that could have started to grow. Avoid carpeting the bathroom floor since this is a great cover for mold. Do make sure that all foot-mats in the bathroom as cleaned periodically and dried out too.
  • Sinks- Another place that demands attention is the sink. Again here we tend to spit out and wash out a lot of out bodily germ and the wetness factor does make it popular with molds and parasites. In order to keep the sink clean, one it is important to dry it out frequently. A simple wipe with blotting recycled paper should do the trick. A weekly wash with vinegar will destroy any germs that may have decided to make your sink their home. An once every fortnight you need to clean the sink pipe. This can be done by using a mild acid or simply some boric acid powder will also do the trick

Cleaning the washroom periodically is very important and will also help keep the health quotient of your family on the higher side. You will be surprised at the number of diseases that you can catch from a dirty bathroom. So keep these tips in mind and keep your house as free from the clutches of germs as possible.
