Stomach problems can cover a large area. Right from severe pain to mild discomfort, stomach ailments can cause it all. While in some cases the problem is not much to worry about, in others it could signify a very serious health problem. Of course depending on the disease, one can take medication for it.
However, there are certain stomach ailments that are not very serious in nature but can be very problematic.
Below are some home remedies that will help deal with such stomach related problems:
- Herbal tea- While caffeine and tea are beverages that can aggravate stomach problems and even cause them, herbal tea is known to be very good for the stomach. Right from soothing stomach pain to even help calm down flatulence, herbal tea helps in it all. The beverage also helps act as a digestive and is highly recommended after a meal. The best way to take the tea is without milk or sugar with just water added to it. Some lemon drops and honey may be added for taste.
- Home laxatives – Another common stomach problem is constipation. In some cases the constipation takes on an almost regular role and can even go on to cause problems like piles. Prunes, bananas, warm milk with honey, curd and figs soaked in water overnight are all helpful in combating constipation without one having to rely on medication for the problem.
- Drinking soda – Those who suffer from bloating and gas will find a lot of relief with a small glass of drinking club soda. Do make sure that you choose the plain club soda and not sweetened soda, since this is loaded with sugar and will aggravate your problem. Adding some black rock salt to the soda will offer a quicker relief. In some cases it may also help to add some ground roasted cumin to this drink.
- Curd – Curd contains several pro biotic germs that are very helpful in the stomach’s functions. Adding a bowl of curd to your meal helps you digest the food better and also dunk the ill effect of spicy foods. The curd is best taken in its purest form but those who find it too heavy can also add water and churn it to make a drink of it. Butter milk is another great drink for stomach ailments and is simply curd from which the butter has been removed.
Just like there are certain things that will help with stomach problems, there are certain things that will aggravate them. Alcohol, spices, red meats, preservatives, etc are just a few things that can make stomach ailments all the more worse. A weak stomach will soon grow into a very serious problem and this is why we must be very careful what we eat and also get enough exercise so that stomach does not get affected negatively.
