Children have tender skin that is very sensitive and this is the reason why they need special body care products. Baby shampoos, soaps, creams, etc are all specially develop keeping in mind the highly sensitive skin of children. While these products are no doubt safer than normal adult body care products, they too carry some amount of chemicals in them. This is why is it best to go the natural way when looking to care for body care for your child.
Below are some body care tips for children that are natural and very effective:
- Curd and gram paste – Mix equal portions of curd and gram powder in bowl and add a few drops of lemon oil in it. Massage the child’s body with this paste for about fifteen minutes and leave it to dry. During the massage the paste will turn blackish in color and this is the dead skin of the body. After leaving it on for some time bathe the kid with a mild soap and pat dry. This helps to remove the dead skin from the kid’s body without bothering with harsher exfoliates.
- Oil massages – Combating dry skin is a great need in children. While there are many commercial creams available for this purpose, they are only good for superficial suppleness. When looking for well nourished skin for kids it is better to opt for oil massages. Both olive oil and mustard oil will serve this purpose well. Simply warm the oil slightly and massage the kid with it for about 20 minutes every third or fourth day. Oil massages are great for the child not only in terms of body care but also tender body contact with the mother.
- Potatoes juice – Children will often play in the sun and despite using the sun block they do suffer from skin burns often. In order to soothe these skin burns using a potatoes juice pack will help tremendously. Simple apply the potatoes juice to the burnt area and leave it to dry. After about fifteen minutes the pack will dry and then simply wash it off with cold water. Do not use soap to wash off the skin since this will increase the dryness of this area and worsen the situation. Apply this pack at least three times a day for quick healing.
- Baking soda – Kids who tend to suffer from moister between their toes will do well if you sprinkle some dry baking soda on the area and then dust off after minutes. This application works wonders in keeping smelly feet at bay too.
Children must not be exposed to chemicals since their skin is much more sensitive than an adult. Keeping these natural tips in mind helps us care for the child’s skin and keep away all the harmful chemicals too. However, in cases where you have to use a commercial body care product, do make sure you pick one especially designed for children as opposed to applying one that has been developed for adults.
