I’m one of those afghan women who been abused in united state for almost 11 yeas same way as other afghan women in Afghanistan. I couldn’t even make any different between living in U.S. and Afghanistan till one of my neighbor met me at grocery store and she told me “My God! What The Hell is going on with you ? You look like a sick person are you in drug or something?”
I said “No, I just do not feel like talking with you, I need to get back home before my 30 minutes given goes up.” She asked me what do you mean by minutes given to you? I said my husband said you should finish shopping in 20 minutes and get back home in 30 minutes if I get late he will beat me up like anything 
Then she showed me a way to escape from that jail. She told me how to find a safe way to runaway she contact the police and right now I’m in police custody and I’m safe the only thing is bothering me is financial problems. I have 3 kids. I’m full time student and English is my second language. I’m trying hard to finish my study because once I asked my husband that I want to study and then he laughed at me and told me that “You are going to study? you? afghan women don’t study. They just stay at home take care of their kids and worship their husband.” “I’m telling you that you will never study till I’m alive. You have to kill me before you go to school.”
That was the very bad effect in my brain until now and by the time I got separated from him I started going to G.E.D. classes. After that I got my High school diploma, and now I’m enrolled in college and I want to finish my college to show my husband that all afghan women are not his shoes to be used by their husband. They can live by them selves if they start believing in them selves.
I shared this story with you all because I’m the first girl in my whole family who lives alone after marriage. And I might be the first afghan women sharing her story with you all. I really do need support and if I get support from you all, I might be the best example for all afghan women’s freedom and they all will see their dreams come true as mine.
