“Flying Out of Brooklyn is an amazing trip back in time, to a rich human, ethnic reality that once existed in New York that I grew up in. The book compelled me to read it in one sitting. It’s a wonderful read and I heartily recommend it.”

I actually just read this book, which I found through Goodreads, and it is so incredible! It tells the story of a young, single mother with two small children in a terrible time in Russia’s history. The writing is so powerful, you literally feel like you are walking in her shoes. You see her struggle to provide for her children and give up so much for them. This book takes you on an incredible journey that so many of us are familiar with and is definitely worth a read!
